Good morning. My name is Darcy Reynolds. I reside in Atlanta, GA. I’m a special education teacher. I’m looking to transition into school social work. I’ve worked with non profit organizations in the past as a Family Service Manager and Case Manager.
I use technology for everything in my personal life such as bills, shopping, smart phone, and social media.
I use technology for resources in professional life such as professional development, lesson planning, and education standards by the state of Georgia.
I have to be completely transparent, I don’t know much about AI but I would like to learn.
The positive impact of social work practice is resources. You can always find some type of resource for the need you’re looking for. The negative is it’s not a lot of help. A lot of agencies are down in employment.

Hello Darcy, I agree, I find that using AI to get resources in social work and in life in general can save a lot of our time.
Good luck with your school social work path!
Hi Darcy, AI is new to me as well! It has my interest, and I too am ready to learn.
Hello, Darcy. Your work experience is cool. How long did you work as a case manager and a Family service manager? But AI is a good tool for you. It can help you budget, create plans by making a schedule, or help you study. It’s a great tool for everyday life. Definitely look into it, but don’t depend on it.
Darcy,
Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts. We all appreciate it. You have had a variety of experiences and bring with you a view from education, a nonprofit and now, social work. I look forward to hearing your thoughts from that variety of perspectives.
We all have the experience of increased technology in our professional lives, but we are facing a new era at this moment in time. Instead of the sense of using technology to make our lives easier and more efficient, we now have technology that integrates into many more aspects of day to day life.
We will talk about AI a lot, and you will hear both the positives (it is a great sources of information easily compiles and organized) and the negatives – it uses tremendous resources to create it. We will talk about the integration of AI and other technology into our interpersonal relationships, and whether that integration is worth what we are giving up in person to person contact.
All of these conversations will be complicated and we will ask as many questions as we create answers. But I am looking forward to many more interesting conversations.
