- The mission of CHT is to address negative impacts of technology and promote its safe usage. Their vision is needed to showcase how its overuse can be detrimental to society. The designs of digital and social media platforms are developed to harvest our interests continually. In my opinion, the mission of CHT is needed to educate the public about the dangers of the use and overuse these platforms can have on the individual and society. I agree with them because the government does not have regulations on the content they are producing and making it available for use.
- CHT is correct in their analysis of social media. It shows how its use can affect a person’s mental health. An individual can use this platform to promote hate and discourse in a community without being visible and the hatred can be far reaching. Some platforms incentivize content with mega views; someone will get paid. It may be great for a business as a marketing strategy, but the content may not be true. Social media is changing daily; its scope is widening at an enormous rate. In the past year, my use of social media has increased, I use it for almost every aspect of my life, it is a constant because its return of information is at my fingertip.
- In relationship, community and value, AI can alter or enhance the trajectory of a community with the collection of data for development. Efficiency will be the tool used to measure how well it is working for the community and if the outcomes are accurate based on what was imputed. I would like to know who I am interacting with; AI would not provide me with this luxury.
- This class is my introduction to AI education. After viewing CHT and AI video, I am curious to know the benefits of AI as they have acknowledged and elaborated on how dangerous AI can become.
- After viewing and reading the CHT and AI material, I will question if society will have a need for social workers.
Hi there,
Some benefits of AI technology that I can think of are streamlining processes, adding efficiencies, helping with research or even creating tools to help with accessibility so that we can reach more clients. Your final comments pose an important question, if maybe social workers won’t be needed if AI has the possibility to take our place. My opinion is that the personal approach is always going to be needed as I think loss of connection is one of the major negatives with using AI or technology in social work.
