Burnout

  1. Prior to reading these articles I thought using technology to prevent burnout was a good idea in subtle ways like using automated messaging for scheduling or just general questions that may need to be answered that the social worker themselves may not need to spend time curated responses for. As far as anything else I had no idea what else I would feel technology could help out with burnout without me feeling like technology is overstepping it’s boundaries in the field, this is based on my own knowledge on technology-mediated practice.
  2. Of the four areas in continuum from health to burnout in Hilty, et.al, Fig 2, routine/fitness resonated with me the most because the I’ve experienced those burnout indicators the most. I am a person who often does everything with a routine and organization, I can often tell that I am experiencing burnout when I am taking many days off and in general feeling like everything is more than I would usually take on but in reality, it’s not. To prevent this I will learn to say no, I am often taking on many tasks even if it is not my job just to simply appease everyone even if it may be not my responsibility. This doesn’t mean I will be completely selfish but I will be mindful of myself first.
  3. From tech and office, I decided to choose No support/ cancellations because that can happen to everyone, it is a very general issue to prevent this from happening I suggest having back up in the area so in case burnout does happen, less cancellations will take place and burnout is less likely to take place with backup. Care is good enough is what I chose from Clinical Care because I often experience the notion that things are okay when I am fatigued instead of how I’d like things to be, exceptional. I often don’t realize when I a doing this so I feel this best option would be to remind myself that mediocrity is not my normal so I should take a break.

    Jade,

you got off to a decent start, but where is the rest of the post?

I think this post and these articles are about how technology makes burnout worse, not how technology helps with burn out. It’s true that some of the people in the study thought remote work was better for them than commuting to an office. But there was a lot of information about how we can easily slide freon a good relationship with tech to tech causing burnout.

I think you needed to do a bit more with the articles.
