Hello everyone, my name is Angela, and I live in Johns Creek, GA. I have a BA in Human Services with a SW concentration, and I am here to complete my SW master’s program and get my LCSW so I can open my own practice. I work for a mental health agency as a paraprofessional, and technology is a big part of our work, especially in the office after seeing the clients. We use AI technology sometimes for research, and it helps us tremendously in getting resources for our clients. My children and I use AI at home too, for quick answers to events, projects, and general knowledge. One positive technology impact on social work would be accessing information quickly that would take a long time to research; an adverse effect is that the information you obtain through AI can be inaccurate.

    Angela,

Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts. We all appreciate it.

There are some basic ways technology has become a part of our profession that have been around quite awhile and data capture and maintenance. But the technology itself has changed and we will be talking about a more significant integration into our professional world.

You talk about using AI with children and to get resources. But now we have apps that utilize AI in the clinical and treatment environment. We will be talking about the pros and cons of those changes.

I look forward to many more conversations.

    Dr P
