Hello everyone, I am Kim Bryant. I have a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and have worked in government and law enforcement for over 20 years. I have decided to go into Social Work as a second career and to eventually have a non-profit or private practice for families. I use technology daily in my professional, personal, and educational areas of my life. I use technology in my personal life by using my cell phone that I can not live without at this point. I have my calendar, email, reminders, etc. I use technology in my professional life as I am required to log into a calendar, timesheet, check emails, database/portal, use of the state issued laptop, state issued cell phone, printer, and internet-based fax (for companies and agencies still utilizing fax). I have recently used technology to help with brainstorming, summarizing reports, research, and cases, and also to assist my daughters with homework. Like everything, there are pros and cons to Ai and the positive will be to assist with streamlining cases and finding information quicker than traditional research. The con or negative impact can be the inaccurate information or the sole reliance on the information received from the Ai platform. I see that we have a variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences in education and professional experience, so this class should be very interesting and exciting. Looking forward to this semester!

Hello Kim,
I agree that with the emergence of AI, people sometimes rely solely on it and may not take the time to think things through for themselves. While I believe technology is a great tool, I also think that complete reliance on it could eventually lead to negative consequences and inaccurate information as you mentioned.
Kim,
Thank you for sharing your experiences and your thoughts We all appreciate it. I will be interested in hearing about how your professional experiences are informing your thoughts about the profession.
I suspect you are not alone in your absolute connection to your cell phone. No matter what we may have told ourselves at the beginning, everything about our lives is in that little box.
I think everything we will be discussing in this class comes with a plus and a concern. Whether it’s AI or the use of apps in clinical practice, we can see the positive and potential, as well as the concerns and difficulties. Often our goal will be to ask as many questions as we answer.
I too am looking forward to the reactions of this diverse group of folks. I look forward to many more conversations.
